5 Weekend Getaways in the UAE

When someone comes to the UAE as a tourist they tend to stick to Dubai or Abu Dhabi. But there is so much more to see and do in the UAE. Here I will tell you about 5 weekend trips you can do if you’re visiting or living in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

Hatta is a gorgeous and easy trip to make from Dubai. It’s about 1.45 hour drive from Dubai and the drive is lovely. You see the desert changing from white sands to mountains! In Hatta you can visit the Heritage Village to learn more about the old way of life. You also have to see the Hatta reservoir as it is just stunning! There you can take a kayak around the water. After that you can go relax in one of the hotels at the pool or spa. Perfect weekend break.

Al Ain

Al Ain is a natural oasis in the UAE. It’s less than a 2 hour drive from Dubai. It is a great place to go if you like a more active weekend getaway. There’s so much to do here including visiting Al Ain Zoo, wandering through the Al Ain Oasis and taking in the Al Jahili Fort. You can drive up to the summit of Jebel Hafeet or if you prefer you can cycle or run up the 11km, which ever way you decide to go up, I recommend going up for sunset! Wadi Adventure is another great thing to do during your stay in Al Ain. You can go white water rafting, ziplining and even kayaking!

Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah is the place to go if you want a weekend of relaxing by the pool or in the spa. With lots of hotels with varying prices, there’s something for everyone! Maybe you just want something with a nice pool or maybe you want an all inclusive resort, you’ll find it all in Ras Al Khaimah.

Sir Bani Yas Island

Sir Bani Yas is an island off the coast of UAE. It’s home to an Arabian Wildlife Park and a gorgeous hotel. The Wildlife park houses over 13,000 animals which are able to roam freely around the park. Everything from giraffes to cheetahs and even sheep! They offer lots of activities as well including horse riding and falconry. The hotel also has beautiful pools, beaches and a spa!

Liwa is another oasis but it is also where the largest sand dune in the UAE is. Here you can stay at one of the beautiful hotels. You can go dune bashing on some of the largest dunes in the world or you can take the challenge to climb to the top to capture the beauty of the desert.
