One of the many things I miss from home is autumn. It’s my favourite time of the year, but since moving to the UAE I haven’t had any autumn or any winter or any spring. Just summer, cool summer and ‘can’t step outside it’s so hot’ summer. I love everything about autumn back home. The weather is cool enough to start breaking out the leather jackets and scarfs but not cold enough that you need your real thick winter wooly’s. I love the colours of autumn, the falling leaves, the new stationary for back to school and mostly I love autumn clothes. I’ve always preferred dressing for this season rather than summer. I feel way more confident with a leather jacket and a pair of boots on than a sundress. But alas I haven’t gotten to wear any autumn/winter clothes in over two years.
I was home in Ireland for two months this summer and while everyone else was enjoying the ‘warmer’ weather, I was making the most of the break from the real summer of Dubai. I didn’t leave the house without my denim jacket and I threw on a pair of boots any chance I got! I was loving it!
This outfit for me falls somewhere between the two seasons. The gingham culottes are definitely a summer staple, loose fitted and cool. These pants are great for summer at home and all year round here in Dubai. I paired the culottes with a light but bright slogan jumper. I am obsessed with the colour yellow as you can see from previous posts. And I will wear it religiously regardless of the season!
I paired the outfit with a pair of lavender van lookalikes from penny’s. I was absolutely obsessed with these shoes when I saw them and even though they are quite bright in colour, they do go with a lot of outfits.
I picked up the culottes in Splash for around 80 AED (20 Euro). The jumper is from a New Look sale for around 15 Euro, and the shoes were only 10 Euro. The handbag I picked up in a market in Spain and the sunglasses are from a market in the Philippines.
