Recently we took a little drive out to Dubai Parks and Resorts to see the little French village that is Riverland. We went during Eid so were lucky enough to get free parking, and to go into Riverland is also completely free! So it’s something different to do when you’re on a budget or waiting for payday!
They have made it look like an old French village and it really does feel like you’re in Europe. There’s loads of restaurants here so you can spend a while just mulling around which is exactly what we did!
I couldn’t resist getting some outfit photos while we were here too, had to capture me pretending to frolic around the French riviera. It was so flipping hot while we were here, way too hot to be wearing a denim jacket but I persisted for the sake of the outfit! Dubai Parks helped out by having fans everywhere spraying cold mist every few feet. These things saved me. They also absolutely destroyed my hair. Wet hair + humidity = disaster. So I apologise for the state of my hair in these photos, I’m sure you understand the struggle. My boyfriend took some sneaky shots of me enjoying (or falling in love with) these fans. I find this photo pretty funny, I look like I’m in a shampoo ad!!
This outfit is actually pretty simple but I’m happy with how it turned out. The dress is from Zara for only 80 AED (about 20 euro). I used to be very reluctant to wear bodycon dresses, I was afraid to show off every lump and bump to the world but recently I’ve been coming around to them. They still do show off every lump and bump but I’ve just got a bit more confidence in myself. I’ve realised too that no one really cares about your lumps and bumps because they’re too busy worried about their own! So I’m embracing the bodycon dresses and skirt from now on!
The dress looks a bit grey in the photos but is actually very tiny black and white stripes which is a favourite of mine. I’ve paired it with my trusty old denim jacket from Penny’s. I bought this jacket one size up to have that oversized feel. I’ve got some patches from Stradivarius stitched on too. You will probably see this jacket again and again on this blog! I’m carrying a backpack my mum picked me in a market in Spain but I’m sure you’ve seen this kind of backpack pretty much anywhere you travel! Not really a big fashion piece but basic enough to go with most outfits.
Lastly, I threw on my brand new dusty pink Asics. I bought these for a recent trip to Italy where I did a lot of walking so I wanted something very comfortable that I can pair with dresses and skirts. I think I hit the jackpot with these ones! I picked them up on asos.com for about 80 euro which is quite steep for me but I know I’m paying for the comfort! All the accessories were picked up on my travels.
So what do you think, does Riverland look like a little French village? Were you as convinced as I was? And I’d love to hear if you’ve seen this backpack for sale on your travels and if so which country? So far I’ve seen it in Spain, Vietnam and Thailand!
